What does this mandate mean to Southeast players and teams?

The US Soccer Federation has mandated changes to the way competitive youth soccer will be played in the United States as part of a Player Development Initiative. The goals of these changes include player safety and improving the process by which our children learn and experience the beautiful game.

These changes are filtering down through state organizations like Minnesota Youth Soccer Association (MYSA) and to clubs like Southeast Soccer. In addition to changes concerning goal sizes, field sizes and player numbers, we will also be moving to age groupings based on calendar years. These changes mean that come Fall 2016 and beyond, some of our players may no longer be eligible to play on their current team.

Southeast will work hard to make sure that our families have the latest information about these US Soccer and MYSA mandates so that players, coaches and managers can work together during the transition. Learn more about the changes here (courtesy MYSA):

Please take the time to read and ask questions about these changes. The "MYSA Update, 11/16/15" is especially important to review as it contains information specific to Minnesota. Contact your coach or manager or Southeast's Club Representative to discuss plans or options for your child.
